Hi. Recently, we've discussed an addition to the possible values of the castle_type tag on the Czech mailinglist (CCed). We need something to properly tag "tvrz" in its historic meaning. Please see https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tvrz The first suggestion was to use castle_type:cs=... - see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:castle_type:de But we don't want to introduce local tags for something that is not specific to our country (see Wikipedia links below). The second suggestion was to find proper English translation, which turned out to be quite a problem. If you look at interwiki for the article, you see that it links to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortified_house However, from the Czech Academy of sciences we got the suggestion to translate as "fortified manor", which seems to be a bit closer to the Czech meaning (it is not _any_ house). And last but not least, there seems to exist precise term "motte", or "motte- and-bailey", for those that were built on raised earthwork. See http://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motte and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motte-and-bailey_castle So, possibly, we could use castle_type=motte-and-bailey where "tvrz" can be classified as "motte" and castle_type=fortified_manor otherwise. Does that sound sane? Is this comprehensible enough for native English speakers? And is there any formal process we should follow to have it acknowledged worldwide? (I see only new tag proposal process, not new tag value process documented, am I missing something?) - TIA K. p.s. please keep talk-cz CCed
